Transient phases in the Vicsek model of flocking : Domain-like phase
An active matter system, with low density (number of particles N=300, cell size L=13, density rho=N/L^2=1.78), following Vicsek dynamics (with velocity amplitude v=0.03), exhibits a transient phase in the low noise (eta=0.1) regime, which shows the existence of several domains of different directions formed at different regions of the cell possessing different strengths (number of particles in a particular domain). Eventually the system reaches a non-equilibrium steady state with one single global domain.
